Biography
Susan C. Turner is the author of the acclaimed Rufus Steele adventure series and is well known for her delightful picture books, including Benjamin Barley's Button which she also illustrated. Her well-reviewed (Kirkus Discoveries) work, Small Black Boxes, is a tribute to the men and women who have died in service to our country and to their families. The first book in her recently-debuted folktale series, The King's Flowers, is written and illustrated under the name 'Eve Palmer'.
Turner is noted for her portrayal of the lives of young people, the challenges they face in growing up and the decisions they must make in becoming who they are.
Turner is a sought-after speaker at schools, libraries, and museums, and she presents her books at reading festivals throughout Florida.
She is a member of the Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the Royal Society of Literature (RSL).
To improve her craft, Turner participates in highly-regarded writing conferences and seminars such as the Southampton Writing Conference (2009) and the widely-acclaimed Eckerd College Writers in Paradise (2011).
Turner lives and writes in Tampa, Florida with her husband, John, and cat, Jake.
